Does it not get a concrete floor? Or does that go in later?

That’s the ‘nearing’ part. Concrete floor and gravel drive have yet to go in. Garage doors, too.

I would think that the concrete would be laid first with the building being built on top of it.

So how many regulations and inspections does something like this have to pass? I definitely would like to build my own garage some day once I own a house and have some land. Who needs a back yard when you can have a giant garage there instead!

Stick built, yes. Pole barn, no. I asked the same thing last post. I'm pretty surprised at the spacing between the poles. I'm used to seeing 4' spacing but that looks to be significantly more. Interesting how the spec changes for regions.

What? The concrete going down after the building goes up?
Here we dig out the foundations, aggregate and sand, lay down the plastic sheeting, then the rebar on top then pour the concrete, then the building goes on last.

I thought it was strange too, but they’re the experts I guess.

Depends on your zoning. We’re zoned agricultural, so we can make one of these with only the basic safety and building code permits. We had a petition going for the building, but they informed us that if we moved it away from the fence 2 feet, we didn’t need it. That probably pissed off the people down the road, as they actually contested the damn thing (they built a 2 story mansion on like 4 acres, so they want to pretend they didn’t pick a rural area to put it in).

More than enough room for activities.

I hope it turns out great.
I’d love a nice garage space.

For the money we’ve spent on it, I hope it does too. It’ll be nice to no longer have to wrench on the hot asphalt driveway. Our 2 car just wasn’t cutting it for our 9 cars, 2 of which are German, 2 are projects (one is actually a fully functional car that was rear-ended and needs repaired), and 2 are semi-restorations (that ‘72 Cadillac and we also have a ‘64 Impala).

Cool, thanks! My boss is having a metal building put up on his lot soon, so he was curious.

We blueprinted it out so that we could swing a car door open completely, so if he’s using it for that purpose it’s a good size. We would have made it deeper for more bench space, but it would be too close to the property line. And the height is the minimum required to have a typical top-bar lift.

Nice. He is going a bit deeper that that for that reason, but has the space to were he wants it installed.

Bloody hell. I just want a garage so I can be out of the weather while I clean the car. Lol.
You know, nothing too OTT like the two below. :)

People can petition against you from building on your own property? That sounds complicated.

Yep, if you are attempting to get a variance you do. ‘Murica, land of freedom.
